ATHENS GUIDE
I am like most of your typical growing up Greek-American kids. I would go every summer and visit the motherland, and spend my entire summer (like 2 months) in Greece and return home usually the day before school began. What I find is not-so-typical for every greek American is the amount of time I would spend in the capital and beautiful city of Athens. Most of my friends, when spending their summers in Greece would spend the majority of their time either in their villages or islands which they are from and such, but not me. Yes I have traveled much of Greece, yet I still have not seen it all but I grew up spending the majority of my summer in the city, and I would not change that for the world.

See, Athens to me after 24 years, is a second home to me. Actually most people that know me would laugh and say you know Athens better than you're own home town, being Chicago. And yea, they're right. I grew up spending my summers in my condo in the north suburbs of the city, spending time with my family, which majority reside in Attica, and exploring every aspect of the city. It’s the place where my dad grew up, where my cousins live, and the city I grow to love more and more everyday if thats even possible. My friends know my obsession with Athens is real, the love I have for the city and its beauty and all it has to offer, nothing can compare to it. With all that being said, I think i live a very non-tourist Athens life, unlike most people that when they go and visit the city if they don't know anyone or they go for a couple days, live. Which is completely normal and nothing wrong with doing the tourist thing it makes sense, but I thought I would create a guide of Athens through my eyes. Every friend who has came and stayed in the city with me says I changed their view on Athens, even those who said they hated it. So, maybe I can change some of yours too! Come follow me through my guide of some of my favorite restaurants, bars, night life, beaches, and places to shop/visit from Kifissia all the way to Voula.
Athens is a huge city filled with everything you could ever desire, and I think a lot of people don't know or see that when one of its main attributes is the Acropolis. Come explore the beauty inside and see why this city is my favorite city. Granted I would like to note that there are so many places and its impossible to know majority of them, this is just me and where I have been and spots that I love. More of a local guide than anything else!
P.S. I decided I am going to give summer going out recommendations for now due to the season, will save the winter ones for later on (:
